High flying mothers now checking into lactation suites

Unless you are a thoroughly modern woman who has recently given birth, you may not be aware of the challenges that come with the need to breastfeed. Jetsetting mothers are about to get some relief with the installation of “lactation suites” in American airports. Mamava, a Vermont-based company, is rolling out the first of these suites – small, tastefully designed enclosures that allow mothers to breastfeed their babies in private comfort – at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport. Each has two benches, a small fold-out table, and power outlets for iPads... or breast pumps. Once out of fashion, breastfeeding is back as a long-term trend and societies are encouraging this trend with specialized facilities worldwide. Look for other lactation suites to open in airports in New York, Atlanta and Houston.
