E-ink displays on phones offer a week of battery life

Battery life is one of the most important aspects of a mobile device, yet the advent of long-lasting power always seems just around the corner. In the meantime, phone makers are battling power eaters at their source: the mobile screen that is most responsible for short mobile user time. E-ink screens, like the ones on electronic book readers only render in grayscale, but they have some admirable qualities, inlcuding days of battery life, superior outdoor readability and low cost.
